Ethereum’s 2027 Upgrade Could Let Users Pay Gas Fees With Stablecoins

Ethereum is moving toward a major transaction redesign that could let users pay network fees without holding ETH. Developers have scheduled EIP-8141, called Frame Transactions, for the planned 2027 Hegotá upgrade.
The change could make Ethereum easier for mainstream users by allowing applications to handle gas payments. Consequently, users could spend stablecoins without first buying ETH for transaction fees.
