President Trump Suggests Moon Belongs To USA on Truth Social

President Trump is now suggesting that the moon belongs to America.

His new Truth Social post features an image of the lunar surface captioned “The Moon Is Ours” with an American flag.

Minutes earlier in the same posting session, Trump shared AI-generated images of the new U.S. Space Force service dress uniforms in a color palette of space gray and midnight black.

Trump’s assertion rubs against the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, which the U.S. helped draft and which more than 100 countries signed.

The treaty states that outer space and celestial bodies are not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, use, occupation or any other means.

Trump’s assertion adds to a string of naming plays. In the same posting stretch he floated renaming New Mexico “New America.”

Last month he ordered federal maps to call Lake Ontario “Lake America,” after earlier directing agencies to use “Gulf of America” for the Gulf of Mexico.

He has also suggested the Strait of Hormuz be called the Trump Strait.
