Rakuten Brings XRP to Everyday Spending for Over 100M Users
Rakuten has enabled access to XRP for more than 100 million users in Japan, integrating the cryptocurrency into its payments and rewards ecosystem.
Through the wallet, users can convert Rakuten Points into XRP, transform that XRP into Rakuten Cash and use it to make purchases across services. Points accumulated in the loyalty program become a crypto asset and then return to the everyday consumption circuit without the need to leave the platform.
@Rakuten reaches more than 100 million users in Japan. Customers are able to use Rakuten Points to buy XRP, convert XRP to Rakuten Cash and spend it through @RakutenPay_App.

Rakuten Wallet senior analyst Masuda highlighted that the integration has the potential to expand XRP’s daily utility beyond its traditional role as an investment or trading asset. He also noted that XRP’s liquidity and its track record in value transfer position it as a key tool for remittances.
