TCS Plans $7.4B AI Data Center Campus as India Infrastructure Race Grows

TCS subsidiary HyperVault and its partners said on September 6 they plan to invest up to INR 700 billion ($7.41 billion) in a phased 1-gigawatt AI data-center campus in Telangana, India. The announcement gives the platform a specific large-scale site development after TCS and TPG previously committed capital for a broader gigawatt-scale data-center platform.

HyperVault’s 1-GW Telangana campus plan

HyperVault secured 264 acres in Hyderabad on September 5 for a proposed Telangana campus planned around 1 GW of capacity, to be developed in phases. The Indian Express, reporting Reuters, said the plan has that phased 1-GW design.

TCS said the site will provide high-density, liquid-cooled infrastructure for frontier AI companies and hyperscalers, supporting AI training and inference. That makes the proposal a computing-intensive AI infrastructure project rather than a conventional enterprise data-center build.

The announcement did not specify either a construction timetable or a phase-by-phase capacity schedule, according to the report.
